Berdell Dean Schroeder

   Berdell Dean, son of Willie and Elsie (Joens) Schroeder, was born April 2, 1925, in Carroll, Iowa. Berdell was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning by Reverend J. M. Ansorge. He lived near Manning on a farm and attended country school. After his schooling he worked with his family on the farm. He also worked for Dultmeier Manufacturing in Manning for two years.

   Berdell suffered health problems and in 1974 moved to Mallard View, a residential care facility in Carroll. He enjoyed participating in all the activities at Mallard View. In his spare time, Berdell enjoyed reading the Bible.

   Berdell died on Friday, May 25, 2007, at St. Anthony Hospital, Carroll, Iowa, at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 23 days.

   Preceding Berdell in death are his parents; one sister, in infancy, and one sister Lorraine and her husband Alfred Dammann and a nephew Dennis Dammann.

   He is survived by his special friend Betty Akers of Mallard View; a niece Diane Dammann Hauswirth; many cousins and friends at Mallard View.
