Barbara Jean, daughter of Robert W. And Doris M. (Mumm) Davis, was born August 23, 1940, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa. She lived with her family in Denison where she attended school. While in school, she was active in Rainbow and Girl Scouts of America.
On February 16, 1958, Barb was united in marriage with James M. Ramsey at the Presbyterian Church in Denison. They made their home in Manning where her husband operated a trucking company. Five children were born to this union. Barb was primarily a homemaker. In 1976 she started helping Jim with bookwork and scheduling for the trucking company.
Barb was a member of the United Methodist Church in Manning. She cared for her mother for many years. In her spare time, Barb enjoyed working on the computer, reading and, above all, being with her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s sporting events. Through the years she collected angels and looked forward to fishing with her sons. Barb was a San Francisco 49ers fan and watched many NASCAR races.
After the death of her husband in 1991, Barb continued to live in Manning and worked at the Manning Pharmacy for five years, American Home Shield in Carroll for five years and Manning Regional Healthcare Center for three years before retiring in 2004.
Barb died at the Manning Plaza nursing home on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 9 days.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband James Ramsey; and sister Joyce Ann Boeck.
Barb is survived by her children: Robert James Ramsey of Storm Lake; Catherine Marie and husband Rob Dammann of Manning; Charles Mayburn Ramsey of Manning; Jennifer Lynn and husband Chris Behrens of Manning; and Debra Jean and husband Chad Nichols of Grimes; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; nephew Scott Boeck; niece Brenda Sue and husband Phil Atkinson and their children; uncle George Mumm and wife Lois of Iowa Falls and other relatives and friends.
