Barbara G. Cornish, daughter of J.O. and Opal (Powell) Reeves, was born December 10, 1923 in Marshall County, Kentucky. The family moved to Murray, Kentucky where she graduated from high school and attended Murray State College. It was Murray State where she met her husband, William Cornish, who was stationed there with the Navy. They were united in marriage on May 31, 1945 in Murray. After Bill's honorable discharge in 1946 they moved to Bagley, Iowa to the Cornish home farm. Barbara was a hard worker, helping Bill on the farm, raising their son Mark who they adopted in 1956 and caring for their home. In her spare time Barbara enjoyed spending time in her flower garden, reading, and had a special love for her dogs. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bayard, WSCS, a reading group, and spent time at the Bayard Library. She moved to the Perry Lutheran Home when she was no longer able to live at home. Barbara was admitted to the Dallas County Hospital in Perry and died there on Sunday November 30, 2014. She was 90 years, 11 months and 20 days of age. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Mark Cornish in 1988; parents in law Zeb and Lottie Cornish, who were very important to her, and her many dogs. She is survived by her husband, Bill Cornish of Bagley; brother in law Robert Cornish and his wife Jean of Panora and many cousins.
