Arthur Zerwas

Arthur Zerwas, age 81, of Manning and formerly of Westside, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017, at CharMac Assisted Living in Manning. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 2:00 PM on Friday, July 14, 2017, at Sacred Heart Church in Manning. Interment will be in the Westside Cemetery at Westside. Visitation is from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, where a Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume at 1:00 PM on Friday at the church.

Arthur, son of Leroy “Dick” and Rita (Dinges) Zerwas, was born December 12, 1935, at home in Manning, Iowa. He graduated from Manning High School. From 1954 to 1957, Art served in the United States Marine Corps.

Art was united in marriage with Sharon Neiderfrank. A daughter Kristine was born to this union. Art and Sharon later divorced.

Art worked for the telephone company in Whittier, California. On June 9, 1975, Art was united in marriage with Mary Jensen in Las Vegas. They returned to Iowa and purchased the telephone company in Westside from Arthur’s father. After Art's retirement he worked as a consultant.

Art was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed corresponding with his friends on the internet and visiting outside.

Art is survived by a daughter Kristine Jordal, and a grandson Luke Jordal, both of Mentone, California; Siblings: Richard “Dick” Zerwas and wife Donna of Commerce Township, Michigan; Larry Zerwas and wife Carole of Elkhorn, Wisconsin; and Mary Alday wife of Lee Alday of Bellevue, Nebraska; an aunt, Rita Zerwas of Manning and many nieces and nephews.
