Arlene Schroeder

   Arlene (Niehaus) Schroeder, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Olberding) Niehaus, was born January 19, 1927 in Arcadia, Iowa.  She was united in marriage with Kenneth P. Schroeder on June 16, 1948 at St. John's Church in Arcadia.  A double ceremony also united Arlene’s brother Leroy with Kenneth’s sister Corinne.  The family lived and farmed east of Arcadia.  Arlene was involved with the Christian Mothers’ group at St John's parish. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and family through the years. Arlene was a wonderful homemaker, and loved most of all to take care of her family.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought special joy to her life.

   Arlene moved from the farm to Arcadia in 1989 and lived near her son Russ in Urbandale for the last four years of her life.  Arlene passed away on Monday, October 9, 2017.

  She is survived by her children: Russell (Pam) Schroeder, Urbandale; Kathy (Don) Beckstrom, Carroll; Susan (Charles) Kelly, Springfield, MO; Teresa (Darrell) Winterton, Garretson, SD;  five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; siblings: Mary Ann (Lawrence) Sibenaller, Roselle; Ralph (Caroline) Niehaus, Arcadia; Roland (Joyce) Niehaus, Omaha, NE; and many friends and relatives.

   Arlene is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Kenneth; and siblings: Leroy, Marvin, Betty Jean, and an infant sister.
