Annabell Pietig

December 28, 1922 — September 8, 2015

Annabell Leota, daughter of Frank and Lena (Tegel) Sanders was born December 28, 1922 north of Roselle, Iowa. She grew up in Early and attended grade school there. Annabell graduated in 1941 from St. Bernard High School in Breda. She worked for Waters Brothers Department Store in Carroll as a clerk and bookkeeper until she was married. On April 30, 1946 Annabell was united in marriage with Marvin Pietig at St. John's Church in Arcadia by Rev. Matthias Stork. Annabell and Marvin moved to a farm southeast of Carroll after their marriage. From this union five children were born. While on the farm she kept a garden, raised chickens and helped in any way that she could. In 1985 the couple moved into Carroll. Annabell was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Holy Spirit Ladies Guild in Carroll. Over the years she made several baby quilts and Christmas stockings for her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Marvin and Annabell enjoyed dancing and taking bus trips when they were able. She joined her husband at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll in September of 2011. Annabell's health began to decline in July 2015 and she died there on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the age of 92 years, 8 months and 11 days. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Marvin Pietig; son Gary Pietig; sister Evelyn (Ed)Fasbender; brother Ray (Helen) Sanders; two sisters in infancy Viola and Donna Jean; father and mother-in-law Herman and Amelia Pietig; brother-in-law Howard Pietig; sisters-in-law Lynette (Forrest) Case and Marjorie (Orville) Kock and a granddaughter-in-law Sheri Meiners. Annabell is survived by her children Dennis (Chris) Pietig of Carroll, Joyce (Don) Meiners of Coon Rapids, Donna (Paul) Krickl of Mt. Prospect, IL and Russell (Sandi) Pietig of Carroll; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 6 step great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Kenneth (Jean)Pietig of Carroll and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
