Amazing Grace?

   Anna Mae Cornelius, daughter of Alfred and Clara (Anderson) Christensen, was born November 28, 1930 in Cass County, Iowa. She attended rural school for a number of years until the family moved into Atlantic from their acreage. She graduated from Atlantic High School.

   On March 16, 1952, Anna Mae was united in marriage with John Junior Cornelius by Reverend Larson at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Atlantic. They lived in the area a short time before moving to Carroll where their three children were born. Anna Mae was primarily a homemaker she did work at Hinky Dinky and The Daily Times Herald. In her spare time, Anna Mae enjoyed gardening and bird watching. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll and also volunteered with RSVP and Congregate Meals.

   After the death of her husband in 1992 she remained in their home in Carroll. Anna Mae had been in failing health for some time and died on Monday, September 17, 2007, at St. Anthony Hospital, Carroll, Iowa, at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 19 days.

   Preceding Anna Mae in death are her parents and husband.

   Survivors include her three children: John Cornelius of  a Lake City; Lila and husband Ronald Smith of Glidden and Danny Cornelius and wife Sue of Lake City; seven grandchildren; brothers Howard Christensen and wife Shirley of Atlantic and Allen Christensen of Sacramento, CA; sister Carol and husband Ron Voss of Redding, CA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
