Allan Lamaack

November 18, 1936 — February 11, 2014

Allan William, son of Henry and Norma (Anthony) Lamaack, was born November 18, 1936 in Manning, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Following his graduation from Manning High School in 1955, Allan worked for a short time in California. After his return to the Manning area Allan started farming west of Aspinwall. He was united in marriage with Sharil Jentzen on June 1, 1958 and four children were born to this union. He retired from farming in 1970 and moved to his current residence in Manning in 1972. Allan owned and operated a gravel truck while assisting various farmers in the area. He was also a seasonal employee at the Aspinwall Coop where he was known as AW. Road trips were something he greatly enjoyed, especially if the route took him to a casino or to the home of one of his children or grandchildren. He knew every road in the state and never took the same route twice. He also enjoyed fishing wherever the fish were biting and for several summers enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota with his children. Allan took great pride in the woodworking items he made. After a short illness, Allan died at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning on Tuesday, February 11, 2014. He was 77 years, 2 months and 24 days of age. Survivors include his children: Cindy Nelson and husband Dan of Vail, Gail Fitzpatrick and husband Mike of Missouri Valley, Jelene Lincoln and husband Pat of Ames and Lynn Lamaack and wife Julie of Breda; six grandchildren: Danielle Nelson of Carroll, Seth Nelson of Emmetsburg, Trent and Brandi Nelson of Emmetsburg, Justin Fitzpatrick of Omaha, NE, Mikala Fitzpatrick and fiancé Justin Jensen of Lake Preston, SD, and Zachary Taylor of Sioux City; five great grandchildren: Evan and Autumn Nelson, Jadyn and Kaitlyn Nelson and Tayden Taylor; sister Valda Lamp of Manning; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Marla Nissen Kienast and brothers-in-law Allen Nissen, Leland Kienast and Gordell Lamp.
