Alfred Bud? Leroy, son of Jim and Hannah (Jorgensen) Clausen, was born February 4, 1925 at Kimballton, Iowa. He attended country school and Elk Horn High School, and was baptized and confirmed at Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn. Bud then went to work on the family farm near Elk Horn. On October 14, 1945, Bud was united in marriage with Nioma Nelson, and the couple lived on the family farm. Two daughters were born to this union. They later moved to a farm east of Elk Horn. Bud raised hogs, fed cattle, milked cows and grew row cops as well. After retiring in 1978, the couple moved into Elk Horn. Bud and Nioma traveled quite a bit in their RV, especially to Texas and Arizona during the winter months. They always enjoyed dancing polka, ballroom and waltzes together. Bud was a woodworker and could fix just about anything. He will be remembered as a gentle, quiet man who loved his family above all else, and he will be missed by all who knew him. After fighting a long period of illness, Bud died at the Lifecare Center of Elk Horn, Nebraska, on Friday, November 17, 2006, at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 3 days. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Emmert Clausen. Bud is survived by wife of 61 years, Nioma Clausen of Elk Horn; daughters Marlene and husband Bill Petersen of Omaha, Nebraska, and Charlene and husband Paul Schiefer of Neenah, Wisconsin; three grandsons: Chris Schiefer and wife Jamie of Chicago, Illinois; Jason Schiefer of Neenah, Wisconsin; Kirk Petersen and wife Candace of Seattle, Washington; three great-grandsons: Austin and Alex Schiefer and Ryan Petersen; sister-in-law Lucille Clausen of Elk Horn; sister-in-law Lorraine and husband Arnie Bintner of Exira; niece, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
