     Roger L. Klaver, son of Joe and Minnie (Arends) Klaver was born September 18, 1943 at Webster City, Iowa.  He graduated from Kamrar High School in Kamrar, Iowa.  Roger served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1964 to 1967.

     On November 16, 1970, Roger was united in marriage with Yvonne Potthoff.  They farmed south of Kamrar, Iowa until 1978.  He then worked in fertilizer and chemical sales for Terra Industries in Strawberry Point, Iowa before moving to Carroll, Iowa in 1987.  In 1992 he began a truck driving career, driving many years for Ag Processing and also for Koster Grain.  He retired in 2006. 

     Roger was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and Mens Club and Maurice Dunn Post #7 of the Carroll American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, walking, fishing and playing golf. Roger died Monday, January 21, 2008 at St. Anthony Hospital from kidney cancer surrounded by his family.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew Randy Klaver, and a daughter-in-law Susan Klaver.

     Roger is survived by his wife Yvonne Klaver of Carroll; children Terry Klaver and wife Beth of Kamrar, Iowa; Tim Klaver and wife Angie of Eldora, Iowa; Marcy Puck and husband Nate of Carroll; and Curt Klaver and special friend Malinda Heuton of Ames, Iowa; five grandchildren and one great grandchild; brother Lester Klaver and his wife Norma of Arizona.

 

A memorial has been established for St. Anthony Hospital Hospice and is available at the funeral home and church.
